Revisiting My Beloved Tracks with Cadillac and Dolby Atmos

I enjoyed listening to some of my favorite tracks in the stylish Cadillac Optiq, an impressive electric SUV, to explore how Dolby Atmos audio enhances and transforms the listening experience. Today, we're exploring the all-new Cadillac Optic, a compact luxury SUV that's part of Cadillac's electric vehicle lineup. We're diving into the immersive experience of Dolby Atmos Audio, featuring a 19-speaker AKG audio system. Although I can't play any tracks due to copyright restrictions, I just had the chance to listen to "Take On Me" by Aha, one of my all-time favorite 80s hits. Right away, I noticed an incredibly expansive audio stage. Different elements of the music seem to emanate from various spots within the vehicle, creating a sensation of being enveloped by the band. This is thanks to the multitude of speakers strategically placed throughout the car, including some in the ceiling and four subwoofers in the doors, along with an additional powered subwoofer in the rear. The sound truly surrounds you, and that's due to the song being re-encoded in Dolby audio, allowing for distinct highs and lows to come from different sources, resulting in enhanced clarity when all the sounds blend together. Next, I listened to "Brown Sugar" by D'Angelo, another personal favorite from my high school days. An intriguing aspect of this track is that D'Angelo recorded all the audio layers himself. With Dolby Audio, the background vocals come from behind me, while the lead vocals are right in front, replicating the feel of an intimate concert experience. The bass hits low, creating a vibration that resonates through my legs, which I believe aligns with D'Angelo's vision of a collaborative sound rather than a studio layering effect. What’s particularly exciting about the Cadillac Optic is that Dolby Atmos comes standard across all models, enhancing the listening experience for every driver. Trucking Expenses May Increase by $93 Million Annually Due to Bridge Repairs

A section of the Key Bridge collapsed March 26 after a containership, MV Dali 3, collided with a support pillar, diverting traffic onto alternate, longer routes, particularly for carriers and drayage companies serving the Port of Baltimore. The port reopened in June, but the bridge is not scheduled to be ready for trucks until 2028, if work remains on schedule, which is likely to impose a total of $446 million in overall operating costs for carriers, a study by University of Maryland and Morgan State University researchers shows. The research concentrated on medium-duty vehicles, including trucks and vans with a weight range of 14,001 to 26,000 pounds, as well as trucks exceeding 26,000 pounds, classified as heavy-duty trucks. However, the number of trucks utilizing this route decreased due to limitations imposed on heavy-duty vehicles that exceed 13 feet, 6 inches in height or 8 feet in width, as well as the prohibition of all double trailers from entering the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel. When trucks rerouted through the western parts of I-695, the impact on travel time was significantly more pronounced. Heavy-duty trucks experienced a staggering 36.46% increase in travel duration, while medium-duty trucks encountered an even steeper rise of 58%. The proportion of trips taken by Class 7 and 8 trucks on this route climbed from 8.63% to 16.46%, whereas medium-duty vehicles saw their share grow from 4.07% to 5.90%. The researchers analyzed over 2 million truck routes sourced from the Regional 3 Integrated Transportation Information System. The research was conducted by Yaobang Gong, Kaitai Yang, Yi Zhang, and Xianfeng Yang from the University of Maryland, along with Di Yang from Morgan State University. Alongside disrupting local transportation routes, the accident also resulted in a decrease in freight traffic at the Port of Baltimore. In March, the port handled 624,526 container tons, but by October, that number had dropped to just 526,700 container tons, according to state statistics, negatively impacting the trucking sector as well.

2026 Hyundai Staria Electric Minivan Aims to Compete with VW ID. Buzz

The Staria Electric may be equipped with a 215 horsepower electric motor and an 800V system designed for ultra-rapid charging capabilities. The new Staria Electric will likely use Hyundai’s latest 84 kWh battery pack. Hyundai is expected to sell the EV in its home market as well as in Europe, Australia, and Thailand. Production of the new model could kick off in mid-2026. The Hyundai Staria family will soon welcome a new all-electric member. Hyundai already offers passenger and panel-van versions of the model, in ICE and a hybrid form, but now it’s the time to add an all-electric derivative into the mix. This particular prototype was snapped at a parking lot in South Korea without an inch of camouflage, providing us with an unimpeded look at its design. Unsurprisingly, it looks mostly identical to existing models in the Staria range but does have a distinctive front end. The Staria Electric does not need a front grille that stretches across almost its entire width. Instead, the EV gets a tiny grille in the middle of the bumper that’s no bigger than a license plate. Positioned next to this grille is the charging port while located towards the base of the bumper are two additional – and equally small – air vents. These photos from Clien also show the prototype’s two-tone paint scheme, with a silver lower half and a black upper half and top. The all-electric Hyundai ST1 and the related Iveco eMoovy LCVs, both based on the Staria, that were unveiled last year may provide us with some insight about the upcoming Staria Electric. No technical details about the electric minivan have been confirmed at this stage, but it could feature a single electric motor putting out 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, just like the ST1 and eMoovy. Moreover, the LCVs’ 800V architecture supports ultra-fast charging and V2L functions. Chances are it will also be equipped with Hyundai’s fourth-generation battery pack. While driving my Tesla Cybertruck at 45 mph on the highway at night, it unexpectedly shut down. With no hazard lights on, I was frozen in fear as car after car narrowly missed crashing into the back of my truck.

A Cybertruck owner shares his unnerving experience after his truck suddenly cut power and came to a screeching halt in the middle of the highway. Bryan, a resident of Southern California and owner of a Cybertruck, reported that his vehicle unexpectedly shut down and became entirely unresponsive while he was driving on the highway. At first, his truck sputtered, lurched unexpectedly, and came to a sudden halt while he was driving at 45 miles per hour on the highway.  Experiencing a sudden loss of power in his vehicle was already a frustrating ordeal for Bryan, but it turned out to be just the beginning of a series of challenges he would face. When Bryan's Cybertruck unexpectedly came to a halt in the fast lane, he attempted to maneuver it to the roadside. Unfortunately, this only aggravated the situation, leaving his Cybertruck immobilized and possibly trapping him in the middle of the highway. Luckily, Brayn managed to free himself from the truck by utilizing the manual door release for the Cybertruck. With the Cybertruck completely drained of power, the hazard lights extinguished as well. Bryan was navigating the road at night, making it difficult for approaching drivers to notice his Cybertruck stranded in the roadway. Bryan recounts a terrifying experience where, without the hazard lights on, he watched in disbelief as vehicle after vehicle nearly collided with the back of his Cybertruck. Ultimately, Bryan came across a few traffic cones and attached a flashlight to them, alerting approaching vehicles about his disabled Cybertruck. Luckily, even though the circumstances were dire, Bryan's Cybertruck remained unscathed and was not hit from behind by another car while it was stuck in the road. Having encountered this problem personally, Bryan recommends that all Cybertruck owners keep a flashlight or flares handy, just in case they face a similar predicament. Bryan shared his ordeal in the Cybertruck Owners Club forum. This is what he composed… "It could be beneficial and potentially life-saving...keep reading. Just two days ago, my truck notified me that it needed servicing (error code UI_a006). Unfortunately, the code didn’t give me much detail, and all I could do was book a service appointment, which is scheduled for two weeks from now." I kept driving the truck, and about 18 miles down the road, suddenly, the pyro fuse for the rear inverter exploded, causing the truck to lurch violently. It came to an abrupt halt and refused to budge. This situation was incredibly perilous, as I found myself in the fast lane of a 45-mph road at 5:30 a.m., when it was still dark outside. After attempting to get the truck to react, it unexpectedly shut down completely, leaving it unresponsive and even turning off the hazard lights. I had to exit using the manual door handle override, make my way to the side of the road, and witness vehicle after vehicle nearly collide with the stationary truck. I gathered a few traffic cones, placed a flashlight on top of them, and kept my fingers crossed to avert any mishaps. After a wait of 25 minutes, the tow truck finally showed up. We quickly pulled the vehicle out of the traffic lane and headed off to the service center. Certainly, the service center mentioned that this issue has become quite prevalent among these Cybertrucks, and they assured me that it will be resolved in just a few days. We'll wait and see… If you own a dual-motor Cybertruck and haven't encountered this situation yet, it's wise to keep flashlights, flares, or other emergency items on hand for nighttime incidents. I found this situation challenging, as I couldn't utilize the front motor for low-speed driving, which many have reported. Beneath his post, Bryan shared a series of images. The initial two depict his Cybertruck being loaded onto a tow truck during the night, right in the middle of the street.  In the third image, an error message appears on his display, prompting him to arrange a service appointment. The last image depicts his central touch screen blinking red, signaling him to safely pull over due to the detection of a serious problem. A Cybertruck stranded in the middle of the road at night, without any hazard lights flashing, creates a truly unsettling scenario. Sadly, judging by the comments, it seems that Bryan isn't the only one facing this predicament. Multiple Cybertruck owners chimed in, sharing that they have encountered the same issue. A Cybertruck owner hailing from Orange County, California, replied to Bryan's post, stating... "Definitely sounds like a common issue since mine failed a couple of weeks back as well. My service center had the replacement part ready when I got there. I was driving on the freeway when I felt a thud, just like others have described, and then the alert 'DI_a139 Rear motor disabled - OK to drive' popped up right away. I brought it to the service center the following day and got it back about four days later." A different Cybertruck owner, Don based in Sacramento, California, shared, “My inverter malfunctioned and was swapped out on October 3rd. The following day, Tesla issued a service bulletin regarding the inverter problem.” Some may find it shocking to witness multiple Cybertrucks unexpectedly lose power while driving. Nonetheless, this is a known problem, and Tesla had already initiated a recall for it two months prior. Regrettably, it seems that the electric vehicle manufacturer has not managed to resolve this problem in all the vehicles impacted. Truck sales raise a red flag  – authored by New Deal democrat Two decades back, Professor Edward Leamer garnered significant attention with a presentation to the Federal Reserve, declaring that “Housing IS the Business Cycle.” He emphasized the correlation between declines in the housing market and the onset of recessions, typically occurring about seven quarters later. However, for the current discussion, I would like to zero in on his conclusion that following a downturn in housing, the subsequent sector to experience a decline was business spending on durable goods. A reliable indicator of business investment in durable goods historically has been the acquisition of heavy-duty trucks. Although sales figures for cars and light trucks can fluctuate significantly, heavy-duty truck sales have consistently shown a tendency to decline by -10% or more ahead of economic downturns, with the only exception being in 1970 (as illustrated in the quarterly averages in the graph below): View pictures in App save up to 80% data. This naturally leads me to discuss the most recent data. It seems that FRED delays updating their graph for a few weeks after the BEA releases the information. To give you the latest figures, in December, the seasonally adjusted sales of heavy trucks stood at 0.422 million annualized (represented by the light blue line in the graph below). For the fourth quarter, the average sales were 0.459 million (depicted in dark blue). As illustrated in the graph below, which normalizes both figures to zero, these numbers represent the lowest sales figures seen in the past two and a half years. According to Leamer’s theory, the subsequent domino to topple would be the orders for consumer durable goods. It is crucial to emphasize that recessions are more concerned with the *trend* of data, such as sales figures, rather than their *absolute level.* Historically, both housing and truck sales have shown a downward trajectory in the initial phases of recessions. In 2024, housing permits remained fairly consistent. Similarly, it is possible that with just a month or two of data, heavy truck sales may have also found a steady state at a reduced level. The decline in heavy truck sales could be a concerning indicator, which makes it even more important to monitor all aspects of goods-producing employment when the employment report for December is released on Friday. If this downturn has affected jobs in the goods sector, the likelihood of a recession occurring in 2025 has certainly increased.

Always check the description of a video if you feel the images are suspicious or too good to be true, like the rumored Ford Mustang pickup.  The images themselves also give away that AI was implemented in their creation. In one image, you can spot it right away due to the lettering. First, Chevrolet was spelled wrong on the dealership building, and it also isn't the correct font. Other AI images, like this one of the fake return of the Ford Crown Victoria, has gibberish on the license plate. Another common feature of an AI image is the incorrect details on the car, like odd shapes, incorrect feature placements, and important missing details. In the image above, the Corvette logo is on the back of the truck twice, and there are plenty of odd bends and empty spaces lacking detail. The third giveaway is the overly shiny appearance, including a very glossy car and over-polished floors full of reflections.

I recall my family owning one during my childhood, and I distinctly remember being impressed by its build quality, which I felt rivaled that of the BMW 633CSi we also had back then. Next, we find two digits, shown as 65 in our example. This is called the aspect ratio and refers to the measurement of the tire’s sidewall from the edge of the metal wheel to the top of the tire tread. It is a percentage of the tread width. The digits in our example tire size mean the sidewall height is 65 percent of the tire’s 275-millimetre tread width. Why does this matter? Let's take our example tire and compare it to one that measures 285/65R20. Although both tires have a sixty-five percent aspect ratio, the second tire will be taller overall because 65 percent of 285 is a bit more than 65 percent of 275. This height difference could potentially lead to clearance problems with your vehicle's suspension or bodywork. Moreover, it can affect your speedometer readings, as a taller tire requires more time to complete a full rotation. For instance, when your speedometer shows 60 mph, you might actually be traveling at only 59 mph. Another crucial set of four digits to be aware of is the ‘date code’ found on tires. This code consists of four digits and is typically located in a small oval imprint on the tire's sidewall, occasionally appearing on the side opposite the sizing information. The initial two digits indicate the week of the year, while the final two represent the year of manufacture. This information assists consumers in determining the production date of a tire. For instance, a date code of 1424 indicates that a tire was manufactured in the 14th week of 2024. This information can be particularly helpful when purchasing a used vehicle from a seller who claims it has brand-new tires. If a quick inspection of the tires reveals a date code of 0319, which signifies that the tires were made in the third week of 2019, it becomes clear that the seller may not be completely honest (or might be unaware of the actual age of the tires). You can use this insight to negotiate a better price or at least inform the seller about the actual condition of the tires. Reputable brands like Sailun consistently include a date code on their tires. Speed ratings were once highly significant in the ‘80s and ‘90s, but the widespread availability of performance has mostly pushed those ratings into the past. Nowadays, with even a four-door Camry capable of reaching 60 mph in under six seconds, it’s essential for nearly all tires to be designed to handle a respectable level of power. It's important to understand that the speed rating scale is not linear. The rating 'H' lies between 'U' and 'V', with the general belief that 'H' represented high performance in the past. Tires rated 'H' are suitable for speeds up to 130 mph, while 'V' tires can manage up to 149 mph, and 'Z' is designated for speeds exceeding 149 mph. In later years, 'W' and 'Y' ratings were introduced to accommodate the increased velocities of high-performance sports cars. Generally, tires with high speed ratings provide excellent grip and braking capabilities, but they may also wear out faster and have a reduced tread lifespan.

Nevertheless, although the current electric BMWs share platforms with their gasoline counterparts, a clearer distinction is on the horizon. The Neue Klasse will introduce the company's first dedicated architecture specifically designed for electric vehicles. Since then, a combination of financial issues and the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted efforts to organize another rally.  In 2022, the residents of Hollister decisively supported Measure T, an advisory proposition that inquired whether they wished to see the Independence Rally return to the downtown area during the Fourth of July weekend. The measure received a strong endorsement, with 63% of voters in favor.  A large number of residents gathered at the council meeting on January 7 to voice their enthusiasm for the upcoming 2025 Independence Rally. In what is now an annual tradition at Motor1, we’re kicking off 2025 by sending lots of emails to automakers to see what manual transmission sales were like the previous year. This gives us a look at the state of the manual in America, where it is certainly not the dominant transmission choice, but continues to hold steady among enthusiasts. In 2024, we saw the departure of several manual transmission vehicles, most prominently the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger. Additionally, several other models were phased out during the transition to the 2025 model year. However, a new addition made its way onto the roster, along with numerous manual transmission cars that continued to perform well in sales. No more beating around the bush, here’s what we discovered: Acura View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Acura stands out as the sole luxury automaker offering a compact car with a manual transmission, and the sales figures for the three-pedal Integra remain commendable. This year, the take rate has decreased to 19.8 percent from last year's 22 percent, and overall sales of the Integra have declined. Nevertheless, it still represents close to 5,000 units sold. According to a spokesperson, the take rate for manual transmissions is approximately 50 percent, consistent with the previous year. The recently facelifted Elantra N comes standard with a six-speed manual, and while it isn’t quite the sweetest manual out there, it’s still the transmission we’d pick over the optional seven-speed dual-clutch. We’re in the minority, apparently, but manual Elantra N sales are on the rise. A representative stated, “[t]he majority of our customers favor the eight-speed automatic transmission. Although demand is limited, the Jeep brand will persist in offering the six-speed manual for Wrangler enthusiasts who appreciate its engagement and control.” Last year marked the end of the manual-transmission Gladiator, though, leaving Toyota Motor Corporation as the only automaker selling a stick-shift pickup in the US. While the company did not disclose the take-rate for the Mazda3, the take rate for the Miata's manual transmission increased from approximately 60 percent in 2023 to 70 percent in 2024. This increase might be attributed to the fact that the automatic transmission is now exclusively offered on the Grand Touring trim, which has raised the price of the two-pedal Miata by roughly $5,000. Mazda facelifted the Miata for the 2024 model year, with subtle mechanical improvements that made one of the best sports cars out there even better. And it's all the better with a stick. That helped drive manual sales for both models, with take rates for the GTI and Golf R ticking up from 45 percent and 38 percent, respectively. Both hatchbacks saw big sales increases last year, so clearly people wanted to grab manual versions while they still could. The Jetta experienced a remarkable sales surge of 51.5 percent compared to the previous year, although the percentage of customers opting for manual transmission decreased by 3 percent, resulting in an overall take rate of 6 percent. The introduction of a facelift during the year eliminated the manual option for both the base Jetta and Jetta Sport, which may account for this decline. Conversely, sales of the GLI with a manual transmission increased from 33 percent in 2023 to 38 percent in 2024. It's possible that the take rate could rise even more in 2025, considering that it is now VW's sole manual option available in the US market. In the grand scheme of things, manual-transmission cars make up a fraction of the cars sold in America. And we're losing a handful of models represented on this list for 2025. Yet, take rate figures seem to be generally holding strong across the board, with numbers actually ticking up in the case of cars like the Mazda Miata and Toyota Motor Corporation Supra. We're also seeing cases where manual sales increase for models that will soon lose their clutch pedals—like the Mini Cooper and Volkswagen Golf—and for when there's a new manual offering, like the BMW Z4. Your engine isn't reaching the temperature you'd prefer," Frederick remarked. Service manager Kelsey Desroches emphasized the importance of tire treads when it comes to driving in snowy conditions. Desroches explained, "When you're driving and the snow becomes compacted, lack of tread can cause your vehicle to slide uncontrollably." Desroches mentioned that they have noticed customers arriving with brake pads that require urgent attention for repairs. "Your brake pad will end up making contact with the metal rotor, which will hinder your ability to stop," explained Desroches. It's been suggested that letting your car warm up for at least ten minutes before driving can help maintain its condition during harsh winter temperatures. This article examines the data published by the EPA concerning the average changes in weight, size, power, and fuel efficiency of new vehicles over the last five decades.
