AAA markets itself as a reliable and convenient option for roadside assistance, but an employee from the car service industry is raising concerns about its battery replacement program.

In a viral TikTok with over 96,000 views since Jan. 12, Gary Pace (@elitevoicetv), who often shares car-related content, claims AAA technicians sometimes install incompatible batteries during roadside service calls.

Pace mentions in the clip, "Many customers may not realize, but those of us in the know understand that with AAA—when you pay that monthly fee of $20 or so for roadside assistance—they actually come out and replace your battery if needed."

He goes on to say, “It really depends on the type of car you own… often, they’ll just load whatever they have available onto that truck. It might not even be suitable for your vehicle. It could be the wrong size entirely.”

Pace recounts a story about a customer who claimed that their electronic power steering rack failed because AAA had installed an incorrectly sized battery.

"In the video, he asserts, 'It's not supplying the correct voltage to the modules and other components. You need to realize that when they install that battery, it's only a temporary solution.'"

Nonetheless, many commenters promptly noted that all conventional car batteries deliver 12 volts, with the key distinction lying in the amperage or cranking amps. "Every automotive battery is 12v; it's the amperage that impacts the components," one user remarked.

AAA offers a variety of battery types, primarily focusing on automotive batteries for vehicles. They provide lead-acid batteries, including conventional flooded batteries and maintenance-free options. Additionally, AAA may offer other types of batteries for different applications, such as rechargeable batteries for electronics and portable power sources. It’s best to check with your local AAA service center for specific battery offerings and availability.

Currently, the primary manufacturer for AAA-branded car batteries is reportedly East Penn Manufacturing, and AAA typically offers a 3-year warranty on their batteries. Although some consumers claim exact brands may vary by location.

Other users added that they primarily rely on AAA for towing services instead of battery assistance. “Believe me, I didn’t sign up for AAA for the ‘battery’ perks; the cost of the first tow pays for itself,” remarked one commenter.

A TikTok user, who identified as a former AAA driver, proposed that the problem could have stemmed from a third-party contractor instead of an official AAA technician.

"Apologies, buddy. That's a third-party AAA service," they explained. "Real AAA trucks need to contact another truck to deliver the right battery if the one on-site is depleted."

Even though the call arrived at 1 a.m., the truck drivers understood that every second counted. Concerned for the man's well-being, they sprang into action without a moment's pause, becoming agents of fate. They worked together, aligning their trucks under the overpass to form a protective barrier, effectively crafting a safety net for the situation. As the highway traffic ground to a standstill, the truck drivers maneuvered their vehicles into position, forming a defensive wall under the overpass. 13 Truck Drivers Rescue a Life The solidarity and resolve demonstrated by these drivers was an incredibly moving testament to their compassion. They understood that they were contributing to a cause greater than their individual selves—a noble quest to preserve a life. The truckers' presence, arranged in a protective formation, served as a tactical alliance with the police. 2026 Hyundai Staria Electric Minivan Aims to Compete with VW ID. Buzz

The Staria Electric may be equipped with a 215 horsepower electric motor and an 800V system designed for ultra-rapid charging capabilities. The new Staria Electric will likely use Hyundai’s latest 84 kWh battery pack. Hyundai is expected to sell the EV in its home market as well as in Europe, Australia, and Thailand. Production of the new model could kick off in mid-2026. The Hyundai Staria family will soon welcome a new all-electric member. Hyundai already offers passenger and panel-van versions of the model, in ICE and a hybrid form, but now it’s the time to add an all-electric derivative into the mix. This particular prototype was snapped at a parking lot in South Korea without an inch of camouflage, providing us with an unimpeded look at its design. Unsurprisingly, it looks mostly identical to existing models in the Staria range but does have a distinctive front end. The Staria Electric does not need a front grille that stretches across almost its entire width. Instead, the EV gets a tiny grille in the middle of the bumper that’s no bigger than a license plate. Positioned next to this grille is the charging port while located towards the base of the bumper are two additional – and equally small – air vents. The main headlamps used by the Staria Hybrid appear identical to those found on the hybrid model, meaning they’re a little larger than the ICE models. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. These photos from Clien also show the prototype’s two-tone paint scheme, with a silver lower half and a black upper half and top. The all-electric Hyundai ST1 and the related Iveco eMoovy LCVs, both based on the Staria, that were unveiled last year may provide us with some insight about the upcoming Staria Electric. No technical details about the electric minivan have been confirmed at this stage, but it could feature a single electric motor putting out 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, just like the ST1 and eMoovy. Moreover, the LCVs’ 800V architecture supports ultra-fast charging and V2L functions. Chances are it will also be equipped with Hyundai’s fourth-generation battery pack. This is an 84 kWh unit that debuted in the Ioniq 5 N and has subsequently been added to the facelifted Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. If it follows the design of the 2024 Staria Hybrid, we can expect features such as a digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen—probably with unique graphics for this version—automatic climate control, as well as heated and ventilated seating options, along with a variety of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Hyundai is believed to be designing the Staria Electric with European markets in mind, but will also sell it in countries including Australia and Thailand.
